John W. Schilt has a varied practical background which serves well in identifying with both judges and juries. He can articulate your position with utmost clarity. From the complex to the mundane, he strives to serve the client's needs and preserve the dignity of both the client and the legal profession.
Mr. Schilt is licensed to practice law in South Dakota, Minnesota and California. He is registered with numerous Federal Courts in several jurisdictions. He is also a licensed real estate agent, contractor, and pilot. Mr. Schilt is also fluent in German. Mr. Schilt has taught various subjects to Engineering, General and Specialty Contractors, preparing them for the California State Contractor's Exam. Subjects include General Contract Law, Mechanic's Lien Law, and Accounting and Finance (2002-2007). With an M.B.A. in Management and Finance, John has successfully run several businesses including an Advertising Agency (1979-1989) and General Building Contractor (1986-1994).
Mr. Schilt is married and has two children. Currently, he spends his free time coaching Little League baseball and serves for the City of Pinole, California, Economic Development and Housing Advisory Commission. Mr. Schilt is also Chief Liaison Office for Charter School Development and Feasibility in the City of Pinole.
Dennis A. Phillips graduated from U.C. Berkeley in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in United States History.
After working for a few years in the technology sector for a small software company, Mr. Phillips attended the University of Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, graduating in 2000 with a concentration in Intellectual Property. Mr. Phillips has been practicing law since 2001 and is admitted to practice in state court as well as Federal Court for the Northern District of California.
Mr. Phillips has developed his experience in Landlord/Tenant disputes (including Rent Controlled/Just Cause cities such as San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland and most recently Richmond), Restraining Orders and General Civil Litigation.
David Chen has 19 years as a trial attorney working for Farmers Insurance Exchange. He has experience representing hundreds of clients involved in automobile personal injury accidents, pedestrian claims, landlord tenant matters, premises liability, commercial trip and fall, dog bites, assaults, and mold/lead exposure. He has been lead counsel in 47 jury trials in San Francisco, Alameda, and Contra Costa Counties.
Mr. Chen obtained his bachelor's degree in 1993 from U.C. Berkeley where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and with High Honors. He obtained his J.D. in 1996 from U.C. Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) where he earned the Prosser Prize in Criminal Law. Mr. Chen began his career with the Contra Costa County Public Defender's Office where he tried 9 criminal misdemeanor jury trials. He was then hired as a trial attorney by Farmers Insurance Exchange house counsel until 2017 when he transitioned to my own private practice. Mr. Chen is admitted to practice in state court and in Federal Court for the Northern and Eastern Districts of California.
Mr. Chen is fluent in Spanish, having spent my childhood in South America and Spain. he is also conversant in Mandarin Chinese.
